Colour INKspiration #08

It's time again for another Colour INKspiration blog hop.  Today we are working with some lovely earthy colours.  I have to admit I have never used these colours together.  I haven't used Tip Top Taupe or Delightful Dijon in ages so I am giving them one last hurrah before they leave us to make way for 5 new In Colours.

Here's the inspiration photo:

What comes to mind when you see these colours together?  I had an aha moment & decided to use my Best Birds bundle.  Surprisingly I have never inked up this stamp set, even with a blog called the Speckled Sparrow!  I have to say after making a few cards today with it I really love it.

Here is my card.

Best Birds Speckled Sparrow Card
So, today as you can see, I have made a card for ME!  It's an interesting concept isn't it, making a card for yourself.   What would you make yourself?  Have I totally lost the plot?

As you can see this card is a little different. It has an acetate panel so you can see the beautiful grassy sunrise or is it a sunset?   I just love that Serene Scenery DSP.  The Delightful Dijon spots on the front are also from that DSP pack.

Acetate Panel Best Birds
I have added a little oval & scallop background for the sentiment. I chose this one for me however, it would make a nice card for any occasion.  I stamped my sparrow in Early Espresso onto watercolour paper & let it sit for a little while. I then coloured the bird in using Soft Suede, Delightful Dijon & Tip Top Taupe with an Aqua Painter.  I added a smidge of Garden Green for the leaves & a piece of Linen Thread.

Here is the inside of the card.  I left a vanilla panel to the left of the card to write a little note.  I just might send it on to someone else one of these days.  After making this card, I am really sad to see these colours retire!

During the week I made another card using all carrying over items plus a little bit of a sneak peek NEW stamp set & punch, using the same bird.

I have used the new In Colour Berry Burst ink for the little bird's belly along with Cherry Cobbler.  The sentiment is from Hang Your Stocking stamp set & the lovely new punch & stamp set sneak peek is a new bundle coming soon called Label Me Pretty.

Next on the hop is Denita with her lovely project.  Click the next blog button to head on over to her blog & continue the hop.

CTC125 Favourite Occasions Big Shot Project

I have to admit I am a huge 3D project fan, but then if you follow my blog you would have already figured this out!  This week at CASEing the Catty we are sharing our favourite Occasions catalogue Big Shot project.  Remember, you can share your projects over on our Facebook group.

Hands down I have to say I love boxes & all the wonderful things you can put in them.  Today I am sharing a project I made way back at the start of the catalogue & haven't shared yet.  It was one of my favourite projects to make & if I remember correctly my stamp club ladies got to make it too!

Here is the box in the catalogue:

I wanted to go for a neutral look & my all time favourite go to neutral paper is Kraft cardstock.
Here is my little box:
Window Box Thinlits - Card Box

As you can see I used the beautiful vanilla lace trim from the Annual catalogue & the So In Love stamp set from page 52 of the Occasions catalogue to make my little tags & matching cards.  The tags come with the box thinlits. Next, I made 3 cards to fit inside.

Window Box Cards

The little cards are actually made using the box thinlit.  You just line the cardstock up slightly above the cutline of the open section of the framelit & tada a cute little card that fits perfectly inside the box.    Here is the die & I have drawn where to put the pre-folded cardstock to create the cards below. Once cut you just cut off the little flaps it creates & you have a cute little hexagon card.

For my 3 cards, I used the Lace doilies & sponged Crumb Cake over the white side for the Vanilla doily card.  The vanilla ribbon is also from the Occasions catalogue. Sadly, both the doilies & the Vanilla ribbons are retiring so if you love them as much as I do head over to my online shop pronto to grab them before they are all gone.

3 x gift cards made using the Window Box Thinlits

Here they all are together.  A nice little project to make for a gift.  I only made 3 cards, however, the box would fit 6 easily.  These remind me of a rustic wedding & would be perfect to give as a gift for Mother's day also.

CTC125 Window Box & Gift Cards

I was so happy to see the Window Box thinlits were not on the retirement list, so that means they will be carrying over - YAY!  This means you get to play with it for at least another 12 months.

The very first thing I bought from the Occasions catalogue was the Window Box Thinlits Die.  I knew I would use it lots, but I have to admit, it took a bit of practice to create this little beauty.  There is quite a technique when assembling it & the easiest way to explain it is to refer you to the Stampin' Up! Youtube video, it saved my cardstock stash!

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  Next on the hop is Rachel @ Stampin' Pals.  Keep the hop going & head on over to her blog by clicking the next blog picture below.

Saying Goodbye To Stampin' Up! Retirement List Products

It's that time of the year again where we say goodbye to a lot of our favourite products.  It is always a sad time for me as many of these items have become firm favourites.  These products are WHILE STOCKS LAST which means once they are gone they are gone forever, & boy they sell out quickly.  As I type this post I am aware of at least 6 items that have sold out & by the time I finish writing it another 6 will probably be sold out :(

Some items are being reconfigured & will be in the new catalogue, but just slightly different. This is always welcome as they are always improved.  Three examples that come to mind are that the Rhinestones & Pearls are reconfigured into a better pack, the Die Brush now comes with 2 foam pads.

Here is the link to the PDF version of the retirement list. I find it handy to print this out & highlight the items I must have.

The easiest way to view what is retiring & still available is the online store. It has pictures of everything retiring & the best part is if it is sold out it won't be there, so that eliminates the ordering confusion.  Here is a link to my store:  MY ONLINE STORE or you can click through to the store from this website from the side tab.

Here are a few of my favourites that are leaving us for good.

I am a little sad to see that Owl punch go & oh the Carousel goodies were amoungst my all time favourites.  Don't be too sad though, as of June 1st we will welcome a whole lot of NEW products that I just know you are going to love.

If you would like to purchase any of the retiring items please let me know ASAP as these items do sell out super fast. Otherwise head on over to the online store & shop now.  If you are ordering please use my hostess code MPM4W39X if your order is under $250 worth AU.
