Reptile Fun Starring Zoo Babies

We had a huge birthday party here last week.  My youngest turned 6 & wanted a celebration of all things reptile to entertain his whole class of preps.   We invited the wonderful Tracy from Roaming Reptiles to entertain 22 kids & indeed she did!  I needed to make invites, party bags, cupcake toppers & of course a cake all with the reptile theme.  I have had Zoo Babies sitting unused on my shelf for ages & thought that crocodile (or Alligator) looked like he would do the job nicely.  And he did!

Here are the cupcake toppers - I used Gumball Green & Pacific Point.

I made the banner from the Celebration Basics Kit in the Occasions Catalogue & added my own Deco label background.  My big 6 year old wanted a snake birthday card so I whipped one up at the last minute based on one I saw on Pinterest.  I used the FREE Sale-A-Bration embossing folder Decorative Dots for his scaly skin.   After meeting quite a few snakes in person this week I can see I got his eyes all wrong!

Banner, Cupcakes, Snake Card & Party Bags!
The reptiles were pretty awesome.  The kids all got to touch lizards, snakes, frogs, turtles, snakes & a crocodile.  They were so well behaved & sat still with absolute amazement.  Tracy was so good with the kids & managed them like an expert.
Birthday Boy with Tracy & the python
Yes, even I had a hold of the snake.  In fact, all the kids held her. She was so silky soft, nothing like I had expected.

A crocodile cupcake birthday cake!
My mum made the cake & helped with feeding all the party people on the day.  Thanks Mum!  Ughh lots of preparation for such a short time, but the birthday boy enjoyed every second so that is all that counts!

MDS - Beach Adventures

I am going to try to post an MDS project once a month to make myself use it more.  I am always pleased with the projects I make, but I tend to avoid it, as I am just not that confident with MDS.  When I am avoiding something I find the answer is to make myself do it more & more….So from now on I will share MDS projects here too.    I am a complete beginner with this type of crafting so please go easy on me :)   I hope to look back in time & laugh, but for now it is about getting in & trying to do it.

We have just started to do a team challenge with MDS and yes, I have avoided it until now.  The time has come for me to get out of my comfort zone & join in, so here is my 12 x 12 page created for our team sketch challenge.

Here is the sketch:

I forgot where the hexagons went on the page so just put them in a flower shape.

MDS Products Used:

Background:  Sweet Details - 4.
Punches:   Hexagon, Baner & Square.
Stamps:   Travel Log, Family Reunion, Splatter.

Sale-A-Bration 2014 Easel Calendar With A Twist

I recently held a special Sale-A-Bration day & it was so much fun!   So, for the next few posts I will be sharing a few of the projects.  There were 3 projects in total (the 4th was optional).  Today's post is all about my twisted easel calendar project.

I had seen lots of easel calendars & lots of twisted easel cards, but never the two together.  While browsing the Sale-A-Bration(SAB) catalogue I had a little spark of an idea..why not combine the two.  The stamps & DSP lend themselves well to it.

Here is the calendar.  It folds flat so it can be mailed in a custom made envelope.

Spiral Flower Die - Framed Art & Burlap Wreath

Over the next few posts I will be sharing a few of my projects I presented at our team day in February.
I presented projects using the Spiral Flower Die from the Occasions Catalogue.  It was love at first sight for me with this die.  I could see so many projects before I even got my hands on it.  Today I am showing two more projects, my framed art & my burlap wreath.

I found the frame at a second hand shop & it had broken glass.  I had no use for the glass anyway.  I went to the local hardware store & got them to match a sample pot of paint to Pool Party card stock.  I think they did a terrific job on the colour match don't you?  I have used the Spiral Flower Die with the Gold Foil Sheets, Vellum & Cardstock.  I also used the new Banner framelits & Sale-A-Bration Twine for this project.  The Happy Birthday sentiment is from a new stamp set in the Occasions Catalogue called Another Great Year.

I have used the same roses on the wreath as I used on the frame, except this time I sponged them in Gold Encore Ink.  I cut out some Gold foil leaves with the Secret Garden Framleits & used the 1 1/4" Burlap Ribbon to cover a styrofoam wreath.

Stamp Sets:  Another Great Year (Occasions 133041), Sketched Birthday (130426), Create A Cupcake (121982)
Paper:   Whisper White (106549), Crisp Cantaloupe (131303), Pool Party (124391), Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum (Occasions 133363), Gold Foil Sheets (Occasions 132622).
Ink: StazOn Black (101406), Gold Encore Ink (Occasions 132141)
Cool Tools: Bigshot (113439), Labels Collection Framelits (125598), Banner Framelits (Occasions 132173), Spiral Flower Die (Occasions 129379), CupCake Builder Punch (121807), Secret Garden Framelits (129372), 1 1/4" Burlap Ribbon ( Occasions 132140), Pool Party Seam Binding Ribbon (125582), Sweet Sorbet Accessory Pack (SAB 133522), 3/4 " Circle Punch (119873), Non SU Styrofoam Wreath & Hot Glue Gun.
